Founded in 1972, Farmerstown Meats has been in business for a half century processing meats, ranging from beef and pork to lamb and goat to wild game.
Since 2019, Jonas Hershberger has been running the business with a focus on exceptional service and customer satisfaction. He grew up a half mile down the street from the butcher shop, worked here in winters during his teenage years, took a liking to meat butchering, and now is the proud owner. We are a cut above in everything we do: from aging all of our beef to smoking meats only using all-natural hickory chips for flavoring our bologna, weiners, snack sticks and jerky with non-MSG spices. Currently, we are a custom butcher shop where you bring in your own animal carcass to be processed, but in 2024 we will be adding cuts of beef and pork for sale in our shop.
Butchering offerings
BEEF - WHOLE, HALF, QUARTER
We let the beef age for 12 to 16 days in the cooler to let the muscle enzymes break down for added tenderness. Our standard cut is 1-inch steaks and 3-pound roasts, but we can custom cut to any thickness requested. We offer all cuts of beef from ribeyes and sirloins to roasts and tri-tips. All steaks, roasts and hamburgers are vacuum packed so you can see the meat through the packaging. We also make bologna, weiners, snack sticks (regular, honey, Hawaiian BBQ) and beef jerky (regular, BBQ, teriyaki and sweet & spicy).
PORK – WHOLE & HALF
From pork chops and ribs to tenderloins and pork butts, we custom cut each order, as well as make hams, bacon, link sausage, sausage patties and bulk sausage. We also can smoke ham and bacon using all-natural hickory chips.
WILD GAME (DEER, ELK, MOOSE, BEAR)
Bring in your deer carcass and we will skin, debone and process the whole animal in-house. For all other wild game, we take your quartered meat and clean, cut and package to specifications. We also make bologna, weiners, snack sticks (regular, honey, Hawaiian BBQ) and jerky (regular, BBQ, teriyaki and sweet & spicy) using wild game.
Custom Butchering Process

Our schedule availability varies for beef and pork, depending on the time of year. Sometimes you only need to book out two to three weeks but during hunting season in the fall six to seven months in advance. For deer and wild game, there is no schedule as you can drop off anytime within store hours and we will process the meat for you typically in 10 to 13 working days. (Processing times may vary during gun season)

PICK UP
When the meat is processed and ready for pickup, we will call you and you can pick up anytime within business hours.
